Day 1
Morning
A perfect day in Copenhagen starts at 9:00 in the morning. We highly recommend you to grab the freshest traditional Danish pastries and high quality coffee in Buka Bakery which is just two steps away from the famous Kongens Nytorv square. Being back to the square right after that, you can enjoy a magnificent architectural ensemble consisting of the Royal Danish Theater, the Charlottenborg Palace, the elegant white building of Thott Palace which is given to French Embassy now, the Hotel d’Angleterre and the famous historical mall named Magasin du Nord* which is also the perfect option for quick clothes and beauty shopping.
*tip: ask the staff of Magasin du Nord to show you the perfectly maintained chamber of famous danish author Hans Christian Andersen. After his moving to Copenhagen from Odense with a great desire to work in the Royal Theatre, 22-years old Andersen rented this room directly under the roof of the oldest department store in Denmark.
Our next destination is Nyhavn or the New Harbour. Postcard-looking colourful buildings by the canal create the loveliest ambience and the ultimate fairy-tale vibe. It’s also the most photogenic place for the best content your Instagram has ever seen.
Afternoon
We suggest you to leave the picturesque Nyhavn a little bit before noon and stroll the Bredgade street towards Amalienborg Palace. This is the current residence of the Danish King and all the Royal family. Every day exactly at 12:00 you can see the ceremony of changing the Royal Guards just in the middle of the palace’s inner square.
Accompany the Royal Guards towards their way to Rosenborg Castle taking a look at it and the famous garden Kongens Have as well. Pass the Nørreport Station on your way to the important gastronomic attraction of Copenhagen – Torvehallerne Market. It is a glass two pavillion market with the freshest produce in the city including fruits, vegetables, organic vine, spices, desserts and plenty of small cafes and restaurants.
The best spots there:
The Coffee Collective – a sublime third-way coffee shop;
Hallernes Smørrebrød – to try the traditional danish open faced sandwiches;
Mikkeller & Friends – the best selection of crafted beers;
Ma Poule – a nice variety of French delicacies;
GRØD – for sweet porridge and savoury risotto.
After having your lunch, take a road to SMK – Staten Museum for Kunst or National Gallery of Denmark to enjoy amazing danish fine arts.

Enjoy your first sunset in Copenhagen on the Dronning Louises Bro or Queens Louise’s Brigde in the middle of The Lakes. The rest of the evening must be spent in the Nørrebro district which is famous because of its street art, coolness and vibrancy, small galleries, cafes with international cuisine and the best wine bars and vintage shops. Nørrebro also was considered as the best neighborhood in the world in 2022, so it’s an absolute must-visit.
The best spots in the Nørrebro:
Assistans Cemetery – which is more park than cemetery;
Poulette – for the best fried chicken ever;
Pompette – for a greatest selection of natural wines;
Superkilen Park – the best representation of the neighborhood’s ethniс diversity
Jægersborggade and Elmegade – for enjoying the architecture and small shops
Cru$h-vintage – for the vintage shopping

After that, we recommend to spend at least a couple of hours in the Tivoli Gardens – the legendary Danish Amusement Park that inspired Walt Disney to create the Disneyland.

Leaving Tivoli, you find yourself on the City Hall Square. Observe the significant City Hall, historical building of Scandic Hotel and after that stroll around the Strøget, the long pedestrian street full of stores of mass-market brands in the beginning and luxury brands around Amagertorv. Don’t avoid Illum and all the vintage shops around. The best spots for the lunch are concentrated around Copenhagen’s University and Gråbrødretorv square.
